The core team

The method came out of Felix’s own agencies, and since 2014 he has used it with the companies he chairs and advises. It became the 2Y3X programme, short for two years, triple value: a team of experienced agency leaders works alongside a founder’s leadership team for two years, and most companies on the programme double or triple in size within eighteen to twenty-four months.

Felix set the method down in a book, Scale at Speed: How to triple the size of your business and build a superstar team, published by Robinson, part of Hachette UK. The second edition came out in 2023.

The course teaches the same method in the order a business needs it: six phases and twenty modules, on video and in writing, with fifteen workshop packs for the sessions you run with your own leadership team. It is built for founders of businesses where growth still depends on one person.

Felix started one of the world’s first web design agencies, Hyperinteractive, in 1994. In the twenty years that followed he founded and scaled six agencies, and in 2014 he sold the last of them.

He has been non-executive chair or board advisor to more than forty agencies and has advised on seventeen agency exits, among them sales at eight and a half and twelve times EBITDA. He runs the 2Y3X programme, and a small number of founders work with him one to one each year.

Inna Goncharenko wrote the Scale at Speed course and presents most of its video lessons. It consists of six phases, twenty modules, fifteen workshop packs and about 120,000 words.

Inna holds an LLM in civil law, an LLM in international business law and an MBA. Before joining Scale at Speed she was production and content manager at neurofeedback technology company MyndPlay. She is also a professional voiceover artist, with work broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and The Guardian Long Read podcasts.

She is the co-author of the upcoming Scale at Speed Handbook with Felix Velarde.

Lucius Sayles produced the Scale at Speed course. He is the founder of MAGE, a go-to-market agency for founder-led businesses, and is studying for a BBA at Hult International Business School.

At MAGE he helps founders take new products and services to market: working out who to sell to and how to price, then building and launching processes to win the first customers.

The Cohort and the Inner Circle add six weeks of weekly group calls to the course. Each group has one lead for the six weeks, a senior consultant from the 2Y3X programme. All four are qualified 2Y3X programme leads and Scale at Speed consultants.
