The Scale at Speed method, as a course you work through with your own leadership team. For founders of agencies, consultancies and service firms where growth still depends on one person. It is the method behind the 2Y3X programme, and its manual, Scale at Speed – How to triple the size of your business and build a superstar team. The course teaches it in the order your business needs it.

What a buyer pays for

The book Scale at Speed has helped thousands of founders around the world to build value in their own businesses. I’ve personally worked with scores of businesses over the last twelve years, helping them scale up and prepare for sale. Of the seventeen deals I’ve been part of myself, one went for eight and a half times EBITDA, another for twelve, most for a premium. Every time, the buyer was paying for the same three things: growth they could predict, a management team that ran the place without the founder in the room, and a plan anybody in the building could explain.

Most founders I meet have built something good and then got stuck. They work harder every year for roughly the same result, and every decision still routes through them. I know that place well. I ran six industry-leading firms of my own, sold one to what was then the world’s fourth-largest advertising network, and made most of the available mistakes before I worked out a method.

That method became the 2Y3X programme, then the book, and now this course. Most companies on the programme double or triple in size within two years. The course gives you the same tools in the same order, for a fraction of the fee, and the aim is the same: double your revenue in two years and end up with a business worth buying, whether or not you ever sell it.

Where founders get stuck

What founders tell me in the first meeting

Seven things I hear most often, in the words they use. Tick the ones that are true of your business. Nothing is recorded; the ticks are for you.

Phase 0 tells you which of these is costing you the most right now. The other five phases deal with them, in an order that works, with your own team doing the work.

Curriculum

Six phases. Twenty modules. One operating system

The same 2Y3X method used in the managed programme, taught in the order your business needs it: diagnose, build the team, draw the map, install the rhythm, scale the business, then step back from it.

Phase 0

The Diagnostic

Find where growth is leaking before you add pressure, with a structured stress-test across the five bands of the business.

  1. M1The Annapurna Vision
  2. M2The Scale at Speed system architecture
  3. M3Your current reality

You leave with a current-state assessment, a growth scenario model and a prioritised SWOT.

Phase 1

The Engine

Move the burden of scaling from you to a Growth Lab Team, aligned behind three strategic goals and a proposition worth scaling.

  1. M4Assembling the Growth Lab Team
  2. M5Setting your strategic goals
  3. M6Core values and positioning

You leave with a signed GLT charter, your three-year goal statement and a magnetic proposition.

Phase 2

The Map

Reverse-engineer the three-year business into a one-page Strategy Map, then distil it into the critical tasks in the right order.

  1. M7Designing your future organisation
  2. M8Creating leadership bandwidth
  3. M9Building and validating the Strategy Map

You leave with a validated three-year Strategy Map, a prioritised Year 1 task list and a task dependency map.

Phase 3

The Pulse

Install the execution rhythm: a one-page Roadmap, the quarterly Research, Prototype, Implement cycle and a meeting heartbeat that keeps it all moving without burnout.

  1. M10Building the Roadmap
  2. M11Installing the R-P-I rhythm
  3. M12Establishing the meeting heartbeat

You leave with a Year 1 Roadmap with owners, R-P-I plans for each initiative and a locked meeting cadence.

Phase 4

The Growth

Build the capabilities of a much larger business, band by band.

  1. M13People: building superstar teams
  2. M14Customers: high-value attraction
  3. M15Sales and marketing: a predictable revenue engine
  4. M16Processes: a business that runs without you
  5. M17Financial and corporate: the numbers that matter

You leave with job scorecards and a hiring roadmap, an ideal customer profile, a client satisfaction system, a weighted pipeline, a risk register with SOPs and a five-KPI financial dashboard.

Phase 5

The Breakthrough

Test the whole system in a trial quarter, remove founder dependency and finish with a business that runs, scales and creates value without you.

  1. M18The trial quarter (Q-zero)
  2. M19CEO freedom: from operator to architect
  3. M20Preparing for exit: a business worth buying

You leave with proven execution evidence, a decision-rights framework, an exit-readiness baseline and a Board-Ready Pack.

Also included: an orientation module to prepare you for the course, and Emergency Planning: The QuickMap®, a 90-day crisis strategy with its own Growth Lab Team session that you can run at any phase.

Start with Phase 0 today: an honest look at how the business runs now, before you change anything.

Stefano MarroneFounder, Nucco Brain · acquired by Unit9

Adam SmithFounder, Rawnet · acquired by Phoenix
“I worked with Felix for just over a year and it changed my career and business forever. […] Now we are organised, strategic, purposeful and ultimately ready to continue scaling in an organised and efficient manner.”

Questions

Answers

How much time does it take?

About three hours a week. At that pace, plan on eight to twelve weeks, but the pace is yours: you keep access for as long as we run the course.

When do I get access?

As soon as you have paid. You log in here at scaleatspeed.academy and can start the orientation and Phase 0 the same day.

Can I do it on my own?

You start on your own. In Module 4 you assemble a Growth Lab Team, and from then on the work is shared. That matters, because the end point is a business that does not depend on you, and you cannot get there alone.

Do I need to have read the book?

No. The course is self-contained. Reading Scale at Speed alongside the early modules deepens the context, but it is not a prerequisite.

Is it video or reading?

Both. The course is taught on video and in writing, so you can watch or read depending on the day you are having.

What if I fall behind?

Nothing is lost. Solo has lifetime access, so you pick it up where you left off. Momentum counts for more than intensity, though, and a quiet month is the usual way these things stall.

What is the refund policy?

Solo: fourteen days, no questions asked, whole fee back. Cohort and Inner Circle: a full refund within fourteen days after you pay and at least seven days before your kick-off (for the Inner Circle, booking the kick-off less than seven days ahead ends it); the Cohort and Inner Circle pages give the detail.

Is there a certificate?

Yes. When you complete the course you receive a certificate of completion showing your name, the course, the completion date and a unique serial number, which you can download as a PDF.

Can I pay in pounds or dollars?

Businesses in the UK and the Isle of Man pay in pounds. Everyone else can pay in pounds or US dollars: prices show in US dollars outside the UK and the Isle of Man, and the switch at the top of the page changes them.

What if I want someone to do it with us?

The Cohort and Inner Circle add guidance from the 2Y3X team and from Felix. If you would rather have experienced consultants run the method alongside your team for two years, that is the managed 2Y3X programme. A small number of founders work with Felix one-to-one each year through felixvelarde.com.
